What we collect & why

Personal information is any information or opinion that identifies you — for example your name, address, email address, and phone or facsimile numbers. We may collect it through correspondence, phone, email, our website (detailstore.com.au), media and publications, other publicly available sources, and third parties.

We collect your personal information primarily to provide our services to you, to provide information to our clients, and for marketing. We may also use it for closely related secondary purposes you'd reasonably expect. Where appropriate and possible, we'll explain why we're collecting it and how we plan to use it. You can unsubscribe from our mailing and marketing lists at any time by contacting us in writing.

Sensitive information

Sensitive information — such as racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union or professional membership, criminal record or health information — is only used for the primary purpose it was collected, for a directly related secondary purpose, with your consent, or where required or authorised by law.

03

Sharing & disclosure

Where reasonable and practicable, we collect your personal information only from you. In some circumstances we may be provided with information by a third party — in which case we take reasonable steps to ensure you're made aware of what was provided to us.

Your personal information may be disclosed where you consent to the use or disclosure, or where required or authorised by law. We don't guarantee the website links or policies of authorised third parties.

04

Security & retention

Your personal information is stored in a manner that reasonably protects it from misuse and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

How long we keep it — when your personal information is no longer needed for the purpose it was collected, we take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify it. Most personal information is held in client files, which we keep for a minimum of 7 years.
