DI resin can only treat water so fast. The higher your tap water's TDS, the lower the flow it can keep spot-free. If your pressure washer draws more than the unit can handle, you'll get water spots.

  1. Test your tap water with a TDS meter.
  2. Find your pressure washer's flow rate (L/min) in its manual or on its spec plate.
  3. In the flow table below, the figure for your TDS must beĀ equal to or higher thanĀ your pressure washer's flow.

Over 500 ppm?Ā DI alone isn't suitable. You'll need an RO system first, with a DI unit as a final polishing stage.

Spot-Free Rinse Water, Straight from Your Tap

The GT1-112-DI is a compact de-ionising vessel that sits between your tap and pressure washer. It strips dissolved minerals from your water to deliver near-zero TDS (<1 ppm) rinse water, so it dries without spots or scale and there's no need to chamois. Ideal for home detailers maintaining coated or paint-protected vehicles, as well as windows and glass fencing.

Which Option Do I Need?

Both options use theĀ same vessel. The only difference is the amount of resin supplied.

  • 4 kg resin (~6 L):Ā up to 7.5 L/min on soft water, dropping to 5 L/min at 100ā€“200 ppm
  • 6 kg resin (~9 L):Ā up to 10 L/min on soft water and 8 L/min at 100ā€“200 ppm, with more water between refills

Guide only, for rinse water. Home units are rated for at least 5 rinses of 30 L per resin charge; commercial units at least 5 washes of 50 L. Softer water gets more from each charge.

Example: a pressure washer drawing 8 L/min on 150 ppm water needs the 9 L model or larger.

Get the Most from Your Resin

  • Add a carbon pre-filter:Ā chlorine in mains water shortens resin life.
  • Use a TDS meter:Ā replace the resin when output reads above ~10 ppm [FSA TO CONFIRM], before spots appear.
  • Stay within the flow table:Ā running faster than your TDS allows means spots.
